Revisit your childhood days with the magic of traditional old school games

The games we played, the fun we had, our childhood memories and old school games bring a smile on our face today also. It is truly said that childhood and school days are the best days of your life. From board and card games to getting clothes soiled in the mud, for us while growing up, play time never meant being glued to screens and exercising the thumb.

Playing outdoor games offers a healthy mental and physical status in a growing kid. They help shape a better personality, keep them in touch with nature and develop essential social skills.

As children, I am sure we have all played a lot of games with our friends: right from cricket to hide-n-seek to a game of hopscotch. There were so many fun outdoor games which I played as a child. We played a lot of games if we found them appealing. Lagori (Pitthu), Gilli-danda, Kho Kho – do you remember any of these names? If you’re in your 30s or 40s, the mere mention is bound to evoke nostalgia for summer days spent playing outdoors with friends. If you’re in your 20s, your parents and grandparents could tell you a tale or two about the magic of these childhood games.

One of my favourite childhood games was Pitthu. I wonder whether kids today even know what this game is all about. I have such fond memories of playing Pitthu with my friends in our colony park. It was a very popular game among kids of all age groups. It involves a ball and a pile of seven flat stones (which are stacked on top of each other). One member of a team throws the ball at the stack to knock the stones over. The team then tries to restore the pile of stones while the opposing team throws the ball at them. If the ball touches a person, she goes out of play and her team continues without her.

Few days back, while scrolling through Facebook, I came across Toiing. It’s a brand which offers a wide range of interesting and engaging toys. While scrolling down the page, I saw Lagori (Pitthu) which instantly made me feel nostalgia. I immediately ordered it for my daughter. I wanted to relive my favourite childhood game once again with her.

Toiing’s StackToi pack contains:
  •          A soft ball for young kids
  •          A rubber ball for bigger kids (read: elders)
  •          Seven coloured flat stones
All packaged in a neat eco-friendly jute bag.

Do check out Toiing, for its exciting range of toys designed to make kids play with friends and family - laughing and learning like we did when we were young.

Now, my little one has started enjoying the game with her friends. We moms jump in to play too. I believe that each one of us should take some time out of our busy schedule and play these games with our kids. Moreover it builds our stamina with while bringing out the child in us. What more does one need?
