Spa for babies in Gurgaon

Do you think it’s easy to be a baby? Sleeping, crying, eating, puking, pooping and being super cute can actually get very exhausting. After all, being a baby is not an easy job! Everyone around you is pulling your cheeks, tapping at your cute little bum and making weird faces and noises, all in the effort to make you laugh. So, what does one do when things get too tiring? Spending the day at the spa can make even babies feel rejuvenated!

Monkey Business in South Point mall Gurgaon is giving infants a very early taste of pampering. The hydrotherapy session there was a great hit for us. Our little one was let into a shallow warm-water tub. The tub is extremely relaxing for babies, depicting a mother’s fluid womb environment which the babies are familiar with. Our little one loved playing and kicking freely in the elongated tub. Anushka, the founder was there with us throughout and ensured the hygiene and safety was at par.  The hydrotherapy baths help increase lung capacity, assist with muscle growth, and improves sleep. The spa has also designed a special floating device for the little ones so they can swim safely. After the hydrotherapy, was the massage therapy. Infant massage session there is scientifically curated known to treat colic and improve sleeping pattern. They have a very friendly therapist who is trained by a Certified Massage therapist from the USA.

The session of Hydrotherapy and Massage Therapy was for around 45 minutes long. For Hydrotherapy, there is always a therapist present in one hand distance for every baby. The floatation device is specially designed for babies’ use. It is made up of non-toxic, non-phthalate, high-quality EVA foam. The adjustable straps are very strong. The inner side of the floatation device has a specially cushioned chin and headrest to ensure maximum comfort.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy includes:

  • The lightness of the body in water helps in doing movement easily such as turning, kicking, splashing, etc.
  • The resistance of the water helps in strengthening the muscles when the baby does the movements.
  • Water pressure on the chest helps in boosting the lung’s capacity to intake oxygen and help them grow.
  • Helps in developing proprioception and vestibular systems which help with balance and movement.
  • Relieves the baby from tummy troubles and leads to longer and deeper sleep.
  • Helps the baby bond with parents and make friends with other tiny fellows

Overall, the spa session at Monkey Business was such a great stress-buster for Sehmat. She slept for a good 4 hours after the session.

For all parents in Gurgaon and Delhi NCR, do visit Monkey Business Park in South Point Mall, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon for a spa session for your baby.

Why is Salt and Sugar a Big NO for Babies

One of the most difficult tasks that a mother faces in her early days of motherhood is to feed her baby. Babies are usually ready to start solids when they are around six months old. This is the time to gradually introduce non-milk foods, a process called 'weaning'. It’s a good idea to try to introduce your baby to a variety of tastes during weaning. However, it is very important to avoid sugar and salt during this phase at least until the child’s first birthday.
A lot of time people think that the reason their baby is not accepting food is that it is bland. This is where most of us are mistaken, the actual reason that your baby is not showing interest in the food is that the baby is used to breastmilk and doesn’t like being fed with new unknown food. For someone who has tasted only breastmilk till 6 months of age and who does not know the taste of salt, what is the need to add salt to the food?
It’s a general opinion that a little bit of sugar and salt is not harmful to babies. Whenever they create a fuss eating food, we think that if we add a little bit of sugar or salt babies will enjoy their food. But the fact is that this is not true. Sugar and salt are not required for babies under 1 year. The truth is, adding salt to baby’s food may be dangerous. There can be many risk factors if we include sugar and salt in an infant’s diet.
A baby’s salt requirement per day is less than 1 g per day (0.4g of sodium) and this is mostly met by the breastmilk or formula. So, any extra salt (other than natural foods like veggies and fruits, breast milk and/or formula) may be a burden on the tiny kidneys and the kidneys will not be able to function properly due to the excessive load. This may lead to kidney disease and it has also been proven to cause hypertension in adult life. Excessive intake of salt in childhood has also been attributed to diseases as osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory illnesses.

In addition, we need to be really cautious about our little ones’ sugar intake as well, right from the moment they’re weaned. By sugar, I mean the “White Refined Sugar” not the natural sweetness of fruits and natural sweeteners.

The toddler years are really important because that’s when their future eating patterns are established. Adding sugar in baby food also increases the risk of tooth decay in babies. Oral bacteria rely on the leftover food in the mouth for their survival and sugar is perhaps the best food for them. Apart from tooth decay or ear infections, high sugar content in your baby’s diet can increase the risk of diabetes in the future years.

Without adding salt and sugar, we can still make baby food more interesting and tastier by adding spices appropriate to the age of the baby. They don’t need salt in their veggies, soups or lentils. As parents, we need to be cautious about the food that we give to our babies. Pay attention to the list of ingredients of baby food carefully and avoid adding sugar and salt, till 1 or 1½ years. By avoiding sugar and salt in the early years, we can make sure that your child does not develop salty cravings and sweet tooth. It also helps in reducing the risk of developing diseases like hypertension and diabetes.

Tingaland Noida - Perfect place for playdates and birthday parties

With rapid urbanization and a dearth of play areas for children, it has become imperative to provide a unique entertainment experience for children of all age group.

Independent indoor play areas are becoming popular in metro cities as a good hangout option for kids. Play areas with a host of activity-based choices to keep kids engaged are trending these days. Be it play dates or birthday parties or just an outing with friends or families, play areas are the best option for kids.

We visited Tingaland in Noida sometime back. Their cute mascot, an alien dog- Dojo greets kids right at the entrance. This cute pair is an adorable photo-op too.

The play area is divided into two sections, for toddlers and grown-ups. All their activities and rides are age specific. Small children can build LEGO towers, play foot piano, ball pool, ride on swings, make colorful sand-castles and more, while the older children can indulge in little challenging activities like the big drop slide, commando net, trampoline, various tunnels, wall climbers and other adventurous stuff.

They also have an art and craft center where kids can do colouring and make a small craft like wall hanging, bag, princess heels, etc.

Play areas like Tingland is a perfect place to wean children away from “the screens” in this digital age and involve them in some much-needed physical activity.

The idea is to let children have some fun through play. At their age, kids possess a lot of energy and they love to vent it out in a positive and engaging way.

Tingaland works on a pay-per-hour basis wherein parents can bring their kids for short entertaining sessions. Keeping hygiene high priority, wearing socks before entering the play areas is mandatory.
Another attraction at Tingaland is their Cafe. It is spacious and well-organized. The little amphitheater in the canteen is lovely. It takes most of the attention as the most happening corner of the entire facility. Stairs-like seating with a huge screen in front makes up for an ideal movie-date with friends. This is also the place where magic and puppet shows are held for birthday parties.
The birthday party packages are quite good and include everything from activities to magic show to games and return gifts. The food at the cafe is equally good. Their chole bhature, pizza, chocolate shake, and white sauce pasta is delicious.

The staff at Tingaland is very courteous who take utmost care of the little ones so that adults can unwind at their own pace.

Tingaland is one of the most buzzing play zones in town!

Reduce your kids screentime with Firstcry Intellikit

Technology is playing an important role in our lives today. It has it's own advantages and disadvantages. One of the big disadvantages of technology today is how its affecting our kids' overall growth.

These days wherever you go you will find kids glued to the mobile phones or television, either playing games or watching videos.

My little one loves playing outdoor, but when she is at home she is always found glued to either the TV or mobile phone. I try to engage with her, but other problem I face is that she gets bored with any activity in like 15 mins.

I had been looking for options to reduce her screen time. While scrolling through options, I came across @firstcryintellikit I ordered one for Inaaya. The theme based box has around 8 activities and a story book. The learning calendar segregates activities for each day for 4 weeks. Each activity engages kids for around good 30 minutes atleast. Inaaya loves doing the activities as she gets rewarded with a star after completing each task.

The Intellikit that I received is based on the theme of "On The Go" and its a lovely coincidence that the learning theme of the month at her school too is "modes of transport". So while I have been successful in keeping her away from moible the Intellikit acitvites are also helping her reinforce with what she is learning at school.

Thanks to FirstCry Intellikit she's no longer looking for TV or mobile to stay busy at home. And what's great is that she is learning new things as she stays away from a screen.

A Moisturizer Which Kids Will Love

Choosing the right moisturizer for your child can be difficult. With the store shelves overflowing with different formulas and brands, choosing the right product to meet your little one's needs can be tricky.

I was looking for a good moisturizer to keep my daughter's skin soft and rash-free during winters. I came across Cocomo Moisturiser + SPF and was quite impressed with the ingredients which included:
  • Coconut oil & Olive oil: nourishes the skin
  • Almond oil & Jojoba oil: act as an emollient
  • Shea Butter & Kokkum: act as a sunblock
  • Calendula and aloe: helps relieving the stress on the skin
  • Passion Fruit Oil: delivers vitamin C and antioxidant contents.

The packaging is  attractive too. My daughter has been using the lotion regularly now. She loves her lotion which has a lovely fragrance too. Now I don't need to remind her to use the lotion.  She ensures to use it twice everyday.

I am very satisfied with the product as a mother. It keeps her skin nourished and fresh throughout the day.

Do try Cocomo Moisturiser for your kid, they will love it too :)
